A classic Southwest Florida beach with 7 miles of soft white sand, warm Gulf waters, and a lively vibe from dawn until sunset. Walk the shoreline, catch local dolphins playing offshore, or hit Times Square for shopping, bites, and people-watching. At the northern tip of Estero Island, Bowditch Point Park offers a quieter beach experience with scenic views of both the Gulf of Mexico and Matanzas Pass. It’s a great spot for scallop hunting at low tide, bird-watching along coastal trails, or relaxing with a picnic in shaded picnic areas. Many visitors love photographing the panoramic bay views and spotting seabirds along the shore.
For a more natural, tropical escape, Lover’s Key offers miles of sugar-white sand, abundant wildlife, and calmer, less crowded shorelines. This beloved state park is perfect for beach walking, kayaking through mangrove channels, shelling after a high tide, or spotting dolphins and majestic birds like bald eagles overhead. It’s ideal for adventurers and romantic sunsets.
If you’re dreaming of a more undisturbed, natural shoreline, Big Hickory Island is your quiet Gulf Coast escape. There are dedicated (paid) parking lots, but also accessible by water or paddling the estuary, this barrier island beach is known for excellent shelling, expansive views, and minimal crowds — perfect for kayak explorers and nature lovers who want a peaceful beach day off the beaten path.
A local favorite with dedicated parking, picnic spots, and easy shoreline access, Bonita Beach Park is where serene Gulf waters meet family-friendly fun. Take a stroll on the soft sand, let the kids splash in the surf, or grab lunch at nearby Doc’s Beach House with your toes in the sand. It’s a classic beach day with all the conveniences you want close at hand.
Just a short drive south, Barefoot Beach Preserve feels like Florida as nature intended it. This 342-acre undeveloped barrier island is perfect for shelling, wildlife spotting (keep an eye out for gopher tortoises and shorebirds), and long, peaceful afternoon walks. It’s often listed among the best beaches in the nation — and feels wonderfully secluded compared to busier public beaches.

"We enjoyed our stay at Turtle Cove. The property was very clean and newly renovated. They offer useful items for your adventures, such as beach chairs, a cooler, bikes, and kayaks. It's close to Fort Myers Beach, and while the area is still rebuilding from Hurricane Ian, several businesses were open during our visit. We opted to rent a car instead of using the beach trolley since it was the off-season and parking was easy. We had a great time exploring Lover’s Key State Park and Sanibel Island."
"We had a fantastic stay at Lover’s Key! It was clean, quiet, and really close to everything we needed. Restaurants, beaches, shopping and great fishing opportunities were mostly in bike riding distance or a very short drive. They provided kayaks, paddle boards, and bicycles, which were very useful/fun. The dock was great too! We were able to keep our boat right at the property and even had a guided boat trip pick us up at the house. It was awesome! It was a great stay with lots to do! The property/unit looked brand new and was very comfortable. We’ll definitely be back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!"
"This was the best Airbnb experience! The hosts were super friendly and helpful! The view from our unit was so beautiful. It was so clean and comfortable. They thought of every little detail! They provide kayaks, bikes, and even a fire pit in the front and back. We really enjoyed taking our kids through the mangroves on kayaks that led out to a very private beach experience. There is even a place to do your laundry. The property was peaceful and quiet, and we slept like babies! It is also beautifully decorated! Excellent host and amazing location. We highly recommend!"
"The apartment was clean and adorable...6 minutes from the beach. Kayaks and bicycles available, local trolley. Lots to do in the area. We arrived to cold water, snacks, and the AC going after a long travel on a hot Florida day. Anne was responsive from start to finish and sent info on the area prior to my arrival! Great stay."
"We had 5 wonderful days at Lovers Key. There was really nothing missing in this beautiful and lovingly restored apartment after the hurricane. The kitchen is super equipped; we enjoyed cooking and eating on the balcony. Even garbage bags, toilet paper, great shampoo, water, coffee, and snacks were there... those are nice touches. And I have never moved into such a clean apartment. We felt very at home and comfortable. Anne and Shane were immediately available for all questions. Whether a dentist or anything else. Thanks for that! All the best to you!"
